2011, it's been real.

Its New Year’s ever!! Do you know what that means? It’s time to sparkle.

Last resolution of 2011: wear whatever makes you feel sparkly.
Whether its sequins, glitter, shimmery shimmer or cotton pjs..rock it out.

Glitter is a very pretty substance, it may even be the prettiest, but there is no denying that it is kind of pain to clean up. It goes everywhere and you never really get all of it. But today...today is New Year’s Eve and it's worth it. Get out the glitter. Throw it in the air, love every last minute of 2011 & have a happy new year, friends!

Merry Christmas

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government
shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

holiday drive.

Friends, it's a beautiful morning.
Traveling home for the holidays has begun.
Pit stop number one was such a treat.

There was hugging. A few zumba dance moves. Presents exchanged. More hugging.
Pizza from our favorite place. Coffee & reminiscing. Fun with cats & lots of laughter.
Being with old friends is wonderful.

parks & recreation

I channeled my inner Leslie Knope and a spent day in the park.
It was a cool 60 degrees and felt like the fall. The sky was clear,
the trees were beautiful & despite a close encounter with some geese,
 it was a wonderful day.

A Christmas Cookie Swap

Three observations about today's events.

One: Cookie swaps all over the world are most definitely upping their game because of Ben and the Pinterest team.

Two: I've decided that if we were trying to think of the male equivalent to a cookie swap, it would be fantasy football. Stay with me. Initially, we bring all of our best men together on one team to hopefully secure a win. Sometimes our men come through for us and sometimes they don't. This can only mean that it is time to switch up our team. Except in this case 'switching up our team' looks more like putting delicious creations into Christmas containers to take home and less like a click of the mouse. It's much more of a win-win situation we have on our hands; it's a beautiful thing.

There were prizes given for the best tasting, the prettiest, the most unique and the best overall cookie. (I suggested that next year we include a category for the cookie made with nuts from the furthest region. Let's hear it for the Macadamia nuts. Woop, woop.) All the winning cookies took home adorable plates from Anthropologie. Double win. Well, I didn't but hooray for them!!

Three: the company was super and the cookies were all delicious.

o christmas tree, o christmas tree

Last weekend a group of us volunteered at the Young Life tree lot. When I got in my car to go that morning, the thermostat read 35 and it stayed that way all morning. My Florida bones were freeeeezing. Despite the chilly breeze, it was a fun way to get into the Christmas spirit. Plus, I learned how to make a wreath using a wreath-making-table that apparently is a hot commodity because it is one of only two in the surrounding area. It was kind of a big deal.

p.s. there are nine (9!!) days until Christmas!

Recently...

Friends, it has been way too long. After completing the 30 day, err, 29 day photo challenge I realized two things about myself. One, routine is good for me & two, I really love pictures. I want you to know though, the PSL is back in full force and ready for the holidays. Tis the season!
Here is a quick recap on the past couple of weeks:

1&2. Caffeine intake has been at an all-time high. Thus, I’m ruling the world.
3. It SNOWED!  It stopped snowing almost immediately but it was awesome.
4. Since it snowed it has been pretty chilly in Alabama. We are officially moving out of fall.
5. I love the Florida sunsets butthe mountains provide some pretty steep competition.
6. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
7&8. I’m a white light kind of lady. Twinkle, Twinkle.

The rest: a life size gingerbread house we have been working on for
a winter wonderland photo shoot finally came together.
It was a long process but it turned out pretty great.
