Creative Bracketology 101

Hey there. Glad you're here. I'm especially glad you're here today. Today is a special day that involves special things.Special treats like this cupcake:

Don't worry, the special treat didn't end with the cupcake.

This year I participated in constructing my first NCAA bracket during March madness. I enjoy sports but I can't say I caught every basketball game this season or even a quarter of the games. My life is far too busy to be following the player’s stats and taking notes on the teams. So here’s the deal: basketball, I like it, but I'm no expert.

My mom however, she's a rock star. She follows it hard core. A group of friends, including myself (and my rock star mom) joined a group on ESPN, made a bracket, paid $5.00 and boom! My love for college basketball was born. In a crazy turn of events my bracket won. Here she is in all her glory:

My frugal self had a mission. I was determined to make my winnings go as far as possible. Me and my creative mind debated for a little while, discussed a few options and came up with a plan. With forty dollars, a short list, and a $10 off $30 coupon for World Market, I was off. I decided to give my room a makeover and a little Botox. I learned a few lessons: 1. Always, always over estimate the amount of spray paint needed to cover a piece of furniture. 2. When the spray paint doesn't cooperate and you think you've ruined the piece of furniture, be patient. Things that aren't perfect sometimes turn out pretty sweet. 3. De-clutter. It makes all the difference.

So here it is friends. Cleaned up and refreshed:

A nice change to my small little room. What do you think?

Enjoy the simple things my friends,
Emily

  1. First of all, welcome to the blog world my friend! Second of all, that cupcake looks delicioussss. :) Third of all, your room is adorable. I absolutely love it. And great job with the photos of the room. That's one area of photography that I really struggle with. And just like that, The Pretty Simple Life shows up Life Through a Lens. I knew it was bound to happen...
